With the rapid development of the economic globalization, the trade relationships among countries have been strengthened increasingly but trade conflicts happen increasingly as well. In 2004, the amount of Chinese trade rose to 1154.79 billion dollars, which makes China the third largest trade country and that drives the world economy up by 10%. When Chinese export trade develops fast, China has come into the period of frequent trade conflicts. Among these trade conflicts, China-America trade conflicts are the most prominent ones. They are of similar to those between Japan and America from 1970 to 1980, when Japanese trade developed very fast and its product could be found all over the world. At that time, Japan-America trade conflicts increased rapidly in textile, automobile, home electric appliances and so on. Every time the conflict became acute, Japan always could use flexible countermeasures to abate the trade conflict and to protect the Japan's interests. So it is a shortcut to compare Japan-America trade conflicts with China-America trade conflicts for China to find a way of solving China-America trade conflicts.Based on a systematic research into Japan-America trade conflicts, this thesis classifies the conflicts into four phases, i.e. microcosmic trade conflicts, macroscopical trade conflicts, investment trade conflicts and institutional trade conflicts. While analyzing each phase, it illustrates Japanese countermeasures against the trade conflicts and appraises the effects of these countermeasures. Then it analyzes the situation of China-America trade conflicts within the same framework. Basing on a number of data and combining the method of macroscopical description with the method of microcosmic contrast, the thesis compares and contrasts the causes for and characteristic of Japan-America trade conflicts and China-America trade conflicts. In order to describe roundly, the contrasts of other factors are added into the thesis, too.The last part of the thesis concentrates mainly on the countermeasures China can take the experiences of Japan, against the China-America trade conflicts.
