Sino-japanese Trade Friction Study

China and Japan are important trade partners for each other, and healthy trade relationship between China and Japan is important for international trade and economic development of China and Japan.Based on empirical study, this dissertation analyzes the economic effect and reasons of trade conflicts and frictions between China and Japan. The trade conflicts and frictions between China and Japan have obviously negative effect for economy of China and Japan, but there also may be some chances for the two countries if the conflicts and frictions can be dealt with in time. Although the bad macro-economic condition of Japan is one of the reasons of conflicts and frictions between China and Japan, the good conditions of trade balance and economic combining between two countries and appreciation of RMB lighten the conflicts and frictions. Games among Benefit Groups of Japan are one of the reasons of conflicts and frictions between China and Japan, and industrial benefit has big effect for the conflicts and frictions.The trade conflicts and frictions caused by TBT (Technical Barriers to Trade) are the main in all conflicts and frictions between China and Japan. Based on the empirical study on the case of eel, we find that although the TBT of Japan restricts the export from China, the countermeasures of China promote the eel export to Japan. With improving of China's technical standards, the effect of Japan's TBT will be smaller. There are some reasons why Japan restricts Chinese goods by TBT, they are: TBT is a effective and covert; although the competitiveness of Chinese agricultural industry is stronger than Japan, the competitiveness of Chinese agricultural industry is weak in fact; there are differences between the technical standards of China and Japan; there are some problems in some goods of China.The trade conflicts and frictions between China and Japan have some characteristics, which are obviously different from trade conflicts and frictions between China and U. S., between China and EU. There are just few trade conflicts and frictions between China and Japan are caused by trade remedy measures; the majority of trade conflicts and frictions between China and Japan are caused by TBT; the majority of trade conflicts and frictions between China and Japan are about the goods of agriculture, textiles and clothing; the frequency of trade conflicts and frictions between China and Japan is smaller than that between China and U. S., between China and EU; the Chinese main countermeasures for trade conflicts and frictions between China and Japan are special tariff and anti-dumping measures.We put forward some suggestions: we should realize the essence of trade conflicts and frictions between China and Japan; government can be more positive and flexible; Chinese corporations should hence the competitiveness, and be more positive when facing trade conflicts and frictions; multiple market and industry associations are important for Chinese exporting corporations. The effect of government and improving of Chinese exporting corporations are important to trade conflicts and frictions caused by TBT.
