Study On Competitiveness Evaluation Of Shanghai Pudong Development Bank

With the development of economy, economic liberalization and financial globalization have been becoming an inevitable trend. On 11th December of the year 2001, China joined World Trade Organization(WTO).Obey to the promise, China banking will open entirely in December of 2006, foreign banks will have fully national treatment as China's, the environment in which Chinese banking is protected by market will fade away. Being important component of Chinese bank industry, the Chinese stock-holding commercial banks will have to confront the direct competition and challenge from the powerful,advantaged large-sized foreign commercial banks as well as stated-owned banks. Therefore, Research on Competitiveness of Chinese stock-holding commercial banks has important practical meanings to the deepen Chinese financial reform as well as to enhance bank industry operation efficiency.The relative concept of competitiveness level of stock-holding commercial bank is derived from comparison. On the base of absorption of precede theory, this paper elaborates the basic concept of enterprise competitiveness and features of it by reviewing the theory of enterprise competitiveness, analyzes the key substance of commercial bank competitiveness. In this paper, the author construct evaluating index system of stock-holding commercial bank competitiveness based on strategy development ability, management ability and market operation ability. In empirical analysis part, the author use Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) and the evaluating index system above to evaluate the competitiveness of Shanghai Pudong Development Bank, it also draws the conclusion that the bank has better competitiveness over other stock-holding commercial banks. For the further development to Shanghai Pudong Development Bank, the author also gives systemic suggestion to increase its competitiveness.
