Research On The VLCC Fleet Development Of China Shipping

Petroleum has always had a decisive role in the development of China's industrial and economy. Now, the development of China's economy is during the rapid period of industrialization, and the problem of scarce resources is particularly noteworthy. Especially since 2003, China's oil gap of supply and demands expand dramatically, oil import increases rapidly, the degree of depending on foreign petroleum rises constantly, the environment of world's petroleum trade changed quickly, as a result, we have to think over the safety of importing of petroleum.The source of China's importing petroleum is single ,what's more, 90% of the volume is transported by foreign tankers. Now, 'Chinese tankers transport Chinese oil' is becoming the target of the country .For the haul of transporting via the sea is long, large oil carrier is necessary, especially VLCC plays the most important role. As a large state-owned shipping company, it is the responsibility to satisfy the need of the country to develop VLCC fleet, at the same time, it is also an opportunity to open new market.This paper starts from the tanker fleet's history development trend, then puts anemphasize on the most important kind of carrier-VLCC. With the analysis of supplyand demand of petroleum of China, forecast of petroleum volume, the paper explains the opportunity and challenge for the enterprise. At the end, some suggestions are given.
