Private banking offers services including investment & management of individual wealth specially tailored for the rich class. As the economic growth of China accelerates currently, unceasingly accumulating personal wealth has contributed to the establishment of a rich group with stable and high incomes, which indicates that certain market foundation has been laid for the personal banking in the banking industry of China. With the enforcement of " Law of Property Rights" which was submitted in the Fifth Session of the Tenth National People's Congress & National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, along with the steady advancement of taxation reform and the gradual liberation of inter-industry competency committed by supervision authorities, every commercial bank will face historical opportunities in carrying out private banking.Due to the lack of laws and rules concerned and the problems existed in these commercial banks, difficulties and challenges emerge at the same time as private banking is carried out in China. Based on the successful cases presented by the U.S. and Swiss, as well as the current situation of China's banking industry, the dissertation proposes several methods and suggestions in terms of the improvement of personal banking system environment and the strengthen methods taken in the competition capacities of private banking.Besides the introduction, the dissertation consists of 5 chapters in dealing with such issue from all aspects. The significance of studying private banking in China is analyzed in the introduction, as well as the retrospect of related theories. A brief introduction on the definition, origin and development of this issue is given in Chapter 1 with the summary of the current development relating the issue in western countries. Chapter 3 begins with the analysis of macroscopic financial environment of private banking in China and then inquires into the reality of issue in both Chinese banks and foreign banks of our country. The analysis of opportunities and challenges for Chinese banks in this regard serves as the ending of this chapter. Successful cases in the U.S. , Swiss and other countries studied in Chapter 4 has led to the suggestions of the issue being carried out in our country in Chapter 5.
