Infrastructure construction is the major power to enhance the economic development, and the urban mass transit is the focal point of the infrastructure construction, which is an important way to solve the public traffic problem of big cities. However, the investment amount of the urban mass transit is enormous, and moreover, the profit of the project is very low. Therefore it is much difficult to raise its construction fund. Currently, the government is still the mainly part to build and operate the urban mass transit, which makes the funding difficult. In order to meet the great need of the construction, this financing problem is in urgent need of solution. As a result, it has great significance on the research of the financing mode to set up a proper one for our country.Based on the theories of financing and transport economics, this thesis includes the following major parts: the economic characteristics of the urban rail transit, the two major financing modes, current financing situation in several typical cities both at home and abroad, the mode of PPP in Beijing line 4 and some conclusions about PPP, etc.Main research conclusions of this thesis are:(1) Governmental and commercialized financing are two major financing modes, both of which depend on the government, and PPP mode is the mix of the two;(2) PPP mode can attract social capital, lighten the financial burden on government and improve the operation and management efficiency through competition. It has a new experiment on Beijing subway line 4 and PPP is a new financing mode, which has great potential;(3) Though it presents a trend of pluralistic financing, this trend is still on the elementary step. The government financial investment is still the major part of the urban mass transit construction funds. As the commercialized financing, especially the PPP mode needs our further study.
