China's Ship Financial Leasing Viewed From The Application Of Aircraft Financing Lease

With the China's economy opening up and continuing rapid growth, transnational and transregional goods increase dramatically. To meet the needs of trade and transportation, China's shipping industry must develop rapidly. And the shipping industry is capital-intensive and big risky, so the shipping enterprises to develop shipbuilding capacity, expand fleet size and improve the international competitiveness of enterprises, it has a vast ship financing channels for large ships to raise capital for development, but financial leasing is a good choice for shipping enterprise.According to London's Financial information provided by the World Economic Report, the global leasing transactions (excluding consuming auto leasing) was 473.5 billion U.S. dollars in 2000. The United States and Japan rank the first and second place, respectively, higher than the trade volume of 226 billion U.S. dollars and 72.32 billion U.S. dollars. China's trade volume of 1.36 billion U.S. dollars ranked 27th. In comparison with developed countries, China's leasing sector's contribution to national economic development is low and penetration rate is less than 1% in equipment investment. Overall it is still at the preliminary stage. Meanwhile, setting financing, investment, operation and capital functioning of a modern lease financing is a new sunrise industries, and leasing business is a broad and comprehensive industry, so it can penetrate into many fields. Therefore, the ship financial leasing in China has great potential to open up the market.Financial leasing is widely used by foreign country, which pools funds and materials, and it is a special type of collecting capital and equipment. In foreign shipping industry, the application of financial leasing has been more mature and the United States and Japan already have several decades of the history of aircraft leasing. Aircraft constitution of U.S has a greater portion of the plane which is derived from leasing; Japanese leverage leasing is also applied more widely. Financial leasing is still the sunrise industry in China, but in the transport sector, China's aviation industry has been more successful application of aircraft financing leasing. This paper describes the profile of aircraft financing leasing and development trends, and focuses on the cause of the aircraft financial leasing developing, referring to the ship financial leasing.
