Analysis On China's Status And Role In East Asian Cooperation

After the successful establishment of regional integration in the European Union and North America, East Asia regional cooperation is developing vigorously. East Asia cooperation is carried out under the ASEAN-led at this stage. But with the continuous development of East Asian cooperation, the weakness of the ASEAN is revealed gradually. In addition, it is difficult for the development of East Asia cooperation because of the specific cultural background and development status between East Asian counties.With the research methods of dialectical materialism and historical materialism, this dissertation begins with the analysis of Chinese diplomatic strategy, and objectively analyses the problem which China is faced with. Meanwhile, this dissertation analyses the relationships between East Asian countries from the perspective of national interests. As the geographical center of East Asia, China has been an active promoter of regional cooperation, participating and promoting the development of regional cooperation through bilateral and multilateral means, and promoting the development of East Asian integration flexibly.At present, China has become a leader in regional economic cooperation though economic strength. At the same time, China is making unremitting efforts with a new positive regional attitude. However, there are many conditions restricting the function of China in regional affairs. For example, the differences between countries, the influence of Cold War mentality and the issue about the leadership of regional cooperation between East Asian countries. Aiming at the above, this dissertation proposes specific programs to solve problems: promoting East Asian cooperation to a broader area by establishing a free trade zone, promoting the development of mechanism; properly handling state disputes. In addition, we should take efforts to harmonize relations with neighboring countries. Whether it is now or in the future, China will continue to make unremitting efforts to achieve regional harmony.
