Regional Identity Dilemma In East Asia Regional Integration

East Asia regionalism was motivated by the development of regional economics, however, the culture and identity play a important role in East Asia regionalization. Constructivism holds that regional identity is a key factor in the regional cooperation. Although regional cooperation in East Asia has achieved remarkable results, compared to Europe and the rest of the world, East Asia's regional identity emerged later. Based on the analysis of impact factors in the formation of regional identity.I argue that Nation's idea and identity was changed because of the economic interdependence, which also helped the regional cooperation.But due to historical conflicts,territorial disputes and the conflict of values,fully trust is still absence in East Asia.Regional identity dilemma delayed the process of regionalization in East Asia,however,it is possible to establish a regional cooperation mechanism before the formation of regional identity.The regional cooperation in East Asia is informal and centered in regional economy,East Asian countries should keep self-discipline in order to create mutual trust among countries,which is crucial important to resolve the security dilemma in East Asia.
