| County economy of China has been an important component of national economy. County economic development is significant for solving issues concerning agriculture, countryside and farmers, for advancing the process of socialist modernization construction, and for overall developing the city and countryside. But currently the economic development in counties is imbalanced. It is desired to provide appropriate advisement to counties with different level of development on how to improve the economic and social development through science-technology (sci-tech) progress. In this thesis, the relationship between sci-tech progress and economic development is systematically analyzed based on the data in project of"Estimate on the Science-technology of Counties in China"which is supported by the Ministry of Science and Technology.Firstly, it studies the meaning of sci-tech progress; discusses the characteristic and design of indexes system. Secondly it analyzes the objective, content of estimate on the sci-tech progress of counties in China, and basic principle of design of indexes system. Then the estimate indexes system of county is figured out. Thirdly, it analyzes the relationship between sci-tech progress and economic development, specifies the characteristic of county economy and its status in national economy, researches the current situation of relationship between sci-tech progress and economic development of county in China, put forward four different kinds of relationship, and qualitatively analyzes the behavior of every relationship. Based on all above, it carries on the demonstration of the relationship between sci-tech progress and economic development of counties in China with the effective data about 979 counties in 2004 collected in"Estimate on the Science-technology Progress of City, County and District in China". In demonstration, all the counties are separated into clusters respectively by level of economic development, level of economic and social development, and level and speed of economic and social development. Then aiming at different cluster, it applies the principal component method to respectively analyze the key factors especially key sci-tech factors in county comprehensive development. The demonstration achieves the result that counties with different economic development levels have different relationship between sci-tech progress and economic development which validates the conclusion of qualitative analysis. In conclusion, aiming at counties with different economic development levels, respective measures of improving economic development through sci-tech progress are figured out.This thesis is the important part of research project"Study on the Evaluation Indexes and Data Analysis of Sci-tech Progress of City, County and District in China"supported by Ministry of Science and Technology.
