In 1990, the thought of sustainable land use were put forward for the first time at the international seminar on sustainable land use, sustainable land use has become a hot issue of international academic research. It plays more and more important role in China’s urban and rural economic and social development, the protection of land resources has become a basic national policy of our country.Xinjiang’s oasis area accounts for only 3.73% of the total area, the limited land resources are facing more and more challenges in resource development, population growth, environmental degradation and other factors. Land salinization, desertification, pollution and a series of ecological problems are happened frequently. The restoration of the ecological environment of Xinjiang’s oasis cities is extremely difficult. Yili Valley is the important area of economic belt on the northern slope of Tianshan Mountains in Xinjiang, is also the important node region of "Along the way" strategy in northwest Xinjiang. The research of land use change, land use pattern of this area is relatively abundant, but short on land sustainable evaluation.From the perspective of sustainable utilization of oasis city, this paper takes the core city of Yili River Valley-Yining City as the study area, based on the relate concepts and theories, summarizes current research of domestic and overseas, combine literature data method with field research, selects evaluation indicators from resources, environment, economic feasibility, social acceptability four factors, builds evaluation index system to evaluate the sustainable land use of Yining these ten years with Entropy-Matter Element Model, obtains the comprehensive scores and the items’ scores. By comparative analysis with fuzzy comprehensive evaluation, reveals the main problems of the sustainable land use in Yining City,and puts forward the corresponding countermeasures and suggestions.Through the analysis of matter element model, the conclusion is as follows: sustainable land use of Yining City shows the trend of development, experiences three stages of rapid decline and slow recovery and steady rise. The sustainability of resources and ecological environment is declining, while economy and society is rising, which reflects the contradiction between developing economy &society and protecting the ecological environment. By analyzing the evaluation result, this paper puts forward the specific countermeasures and suggestions of making a scientific and rational land planning, improving the level of intensive use of land, improving the level of green city’s development and developing ecological tourism to improve the sustainable utilization of land resources of Yining City.
