Techfaith Wireless Communication Technology Limited, a holding company, founded in Jul 2002 and provides mobile handset design services in PRC and internationally. China TechFaith had applied for a Nasdaq listing under the symbol "CNTF" in May 2005. Techfaith wireless has high-speed development in mobile phone design area in China in last few years. But, mobile phone design industry had entered strictly competitive stage after it's initial development period. So, every mobile phone design company meets a hard situation. It is a key factor concerning high-tech company's future is that if the company can select a right development strategy in this competitive situation. This paper mainly discusses the R&D strategy study of Techfaith Wireless Communication Technology Limited. After that, we also have a presentation of Techfaith wireless R&D strategy execution and control.The first part of this paper was a general introduction of Techfaith wireless company. Then presented several methods for company strategy analysis. Continued, since the company is in an open economic system, the operation activities of the company are bound to be affected by exterior environment. Therefore, an in-depth study was made to the external envireoment and industrial environment for Techfaith wireless. In this section the author introduced industrial background of mobile phone design technology at first. Then described the development situation of mobile phone design industry in China.Thirdly, in addition to the influences from external environment and industrial environment, the company operation activities are also constrained by its own resource possession. Techfaith wireless internal resources and its strengths and weaknesses was analyzed in this part with the focus on analyzing opportunities and threats of establishing focus one point strategy by SWOT analysis method, to provide grounds for the feasibility of foucus one point R&D strategy.Based on the strategy analysis of Techfaith wireless, the focus one point R&D strategy was confirmed, laying out measures and plans for strategy realization. The paper also formed an implementation scheme for Techfaith wireless strategy, and brought forward on point, that the large-scaled optimization tool must be utilized to manage the supply chain of Techfaith wireless.
