Being the most active and vibrate social cultural and economic activity, modern tourism has become an important way of life. It has penetrated to the various segments of the modern society, and is an important drive of the economy. The New Century is one in which the global tourism industry blooms. So does the Chinese tourism industry. Against this background, based on past studies, and deploying methodologies and theories on behaviorism, psychology, marketing, and statistics, this dissertation aims to study the typical spending patterns of foreign tourists in Guangzhou, and factors affecting such patterns. Thus, foreign tourists in Guangzhou are the subjects of this study. This dissertation comprises of four sections:Section Ⅰ: A review is conducted on the current situation worldwide, with careful study into numerous past studies, literature, and research work. This review defines the scope and relevance of the research that this dissertation aims to achieve.Section Ⅱ: A study was conducted on the general spending behavior characteristics of foreign tourists in Guangzhou, by researching into their spending hours, ways of spending, spending inclination, spending quantum, as well as the numbers of transactions.Section Ⅲ: This is the key section of this dissertation. Based on survey findings, we analyze the spending patterns of foreign tourists in Guangzhou, in particular, their implicit spending behavioral traits, as well as factors that affecting their spending patterns.Section Ⅳ: Based on the above analysis, we make suggestions and proposals on the product development, hospitality services, and tourism promotion and marketing for the Guangzhou foreigner tourism industry.
