The Research Of Semiconductor Tester Assembly Manufacture For Supply Chain Inventory Improvements Strategy

The author is working at a company called EACS (East Asia Connector Services) which belonged to Teradyne Group, EACS is a middle-sized electro-mechanical Assembly house. One of the most important projects at EACS is J750 semiconductor tester assembly for Teradyne.Firstly, we gave a detailed introduction of the characteristics of this project background including"few kinds for products","low volume","long lead-time","sole source for a lot of materials"and"most parts come from overseas", we also stressed that actual demand is very sensitive to the macro semiconductor market, it shows typical fluctuation and recycling.Based on the theory of supply chain management, we pointed out the essence of the problems are the supply chain inventory problems. Then, we gave a detailed analysis of the causes of the above problems and made a study on how to improve the supply chain inventory. This study contained how to improve the partnership between the customers and suppliers, establishing a model to prove that sharing the information inside the pipeline are helpful to relieve the bullwhip effect and describing a smart forecast is helpful for decision making etc.Then, we applied the above strategies to the real running J750 project including the application based on partnership and information sharing, the application of data analysis. The application details contain establishing complete contract of regulating mutual liability and privilege for inventory, building a information system called Webplan to monitor and simulate the supply chain inventory status, dynamically adjusting the safety stock based on the fluctuation of the demands, establishing a model based on historic data to forecast the future demand and using the Book/Bill to help judging the future demand etc.Finally, we made a review of the effect of the application and an expectation of the future study.
