In the 21st century, the competition among the enterprises becomes more and more fierce. A success corporation depends more on the core competence than ever before, which is supported by knowledge and technology. However, it's the key employees who grasp the important knowledge and technology; they also create the main profit of the company. So the key employees play the key roles to the development of a company. Just because of this, the key employees become the targets of the other enterprises, which will provide higher pay or higher position to attract your key employees to join them.The turnover of key employee becomes a serious problem to a company, which will weaken the competence of the company, break down the moral of other employees, and cut down the profit of the company. Therefore, to analyze how the turnover of the key employee affects the enterprise, why the key employee decides to quit, and how to retain the key employee is very important to the managers.The thesis aims at key employee, bases on the cognition of the research before, analyses the characteristics and consequence of the key employee, the author finds the intrinsic motivation of the key employee turnover, construes the cause of the key employee turnover, and contrives to find the effective countermeasures to lessen the turnover of the key employees. The countermeasures mainly include improving the functions of human resource management, such as human resource obtaining, retaining, developing, and harmonizing. These measures will help the managers to avoid or reduce the turnover of the key employee.Besides, the thesis points out that enterprise should carry out the continuous management of employee turnover by detaining the key employees who want to quit, dealing with the job handover and keeping a good relationship with the key employees who have quitted. The exit employees can also benefit the enterprise, and the manager can reduce the expense of the key employee turnover by carrying out the exit employee relationship management.
