The successful application of CAD (Computer aided design) into construction design industry has greatly alleviated intensity of labor for designers, and improved design the efficiency and quality as well as shortened the design cycle. However, construction cost calculation has not been getting rid of the condition of hand working with low efficiency, which has greatly restricted the development of construction engineering costs industry as well as whole construction industry.With the development of information technology and research into 4D/nD modeling and building life-cycle management / building information modeling, it is a tremendous urgent and important research task for us to realize the combination of construction design and construction cost in a creative way as well as to change the mformation communication method in the construction project fundamentally, and finalize to realize the calculation of bills of quantity and construction engineering costs automatically with high accuracy. It has greatly profound impact on the development of the whole construction cost industry, and is a very important step to realize the engineering project integrated management.Since to construct the integrated 3D + Construction engineering costs information modeling is still in the embryonic stage, this paper emphasizes to discuss and research the integrated 3D + Construction engineering costs information modeling from theoretical angle. Based on the profound analysis on Industry Foundation Classes (IFC) and 3D building information modeling and principles of construction project quota and calculation rules of bills of quantity, this paper advances the process-constructed modeling under adopting the 3D modeling technology, object oriented modeling technology and database technology, and then puts forward to the prototype model, architecture, functional model and data structure of 4D(3D + Construction Engineering Costs) information modeling.
