The Effect Of International Contracting On Economic Development In China

This paper is the achievement of the subordinate subject of national soft science researching program .The subject is called the policy and mechanism research on the large state-owned enterprise developing international contracting market.International contracting is an important part of international economic and technical cooperation .It is the comprehensive carrier of goods trade, technology trade and service trade, so it is also an important part of foreign economic and trade project. Ever since China's reform and opening up to the outside world, international contracting has grown from scratch and are constantly growing .Especially in recent years, in order to carry out the policy of"Bring in and going out"and"Doing better in opening to the outside world", there are a lot of Chinese international contracting corporations laying a firm base in this field. By the end of 2005, China has signed international contracts which valued 185.905 billion dollars in total, and completed contracts which valued 135.818 billion dollars .There are 46 Chinese corporations in the list of the Top 225 International Contractors, it's a great record.But it can't be ignored that the contracts signed by our corporations account for only a small portion of the market, and as a whole, they are in a back place of Top 225 International Contractors. And Chinese contractors take Asia, Middle East and Africa as their major market, but seldom focus on European and America market. As our country's economy is developing rapidly, it is an important task that how to promote the growth of international contracting industry, and contribute to the development of national economy.This paper integrates theory with practice, analyses the current situation and characteristics of Chinese international contracting. And it has a study on the influence that international contracting on Chinese economic development, including the influence on GDP, foreign economic and trade, and labor market. At the last part, this paper puts forward the countermeasures and suggestions to promote the development of Chinese international contracting.
