In the era of knowledge economy, the internal firm operation and human capital investment are based more and more on teams, not on individuals, so knowledge and skills of teams are different from human capital of individuals. Thus, we need to do more research on this part of human capital to develop the human capital theory and direct the operation of firms. Based on the literature and reality evidence, this thesis firstly summarized human capital theory and team theory, and brought forward the concept of team human capital. We think this capital is the knowledge and the skills that are invested by firms and individuals to be used specially by teams, not by individual human capital owners. After specifying the concept and the extension of team human capital, this thesis then analyzed the its difference to social capital and intelligence capital and pointed out that the characteristics of team human capital are complementary, indivisible, specific, whole, club good.Firm is a contract of human capital owners and physical capital owners. Although physical capital owners dominate in the contract, the whole team members carry the team human capital which will play a more and more important role in knowledge economy. Therefore, firms and individuals will share the benefits from team human capital. Based on the construction of the frame of team human capital, this thesis then developed some traditional theories and gave some new explanation on them. This thesis pointed out that the turn over of work is not individual but team human capital investment. We should consider the cost of team human capital investment when evaluating the stock of human capital of the organization and the region. The existence of firm is to facilitate the usage of team human capital which is difficult to invest in the market. Due to the varieties in the scale and the culture, firms will choose whether to do team human capital investment or not. The firms which choose to invest in team human capital will build internal labor market, others will not, and segmented labor market comes into being.
