Quality plays an important role in the economical development of contemporary society. There are quick development in science and technology and severe competition in market, and the core of competition is competing science and technology as well as quality. The advance of quality relies on reasonable application of management means and methods. Quality management is a series of activities to control quality formation, including quality of product and quality of service. Any quality problem in process or product specificity will bring extra quality cost---Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ). Continuous improvement to decrease quality deviation can help to save cost and can increase customer satisfaction, market share and gross income, and consequently can bring more profit.The theoretical research and practice of quality continuous improvement by and large has several courses. It has evolved from former confirmative quality concept to applicable quality concept; then to total quality management (TQM), focusing on customer; and now to excellent quality management 6SIGMA advocates that enterprise should fully understand customer's needs, highlighting process control and enhancing system management.Above all, this essay, drawing on predecessor's research results, makes an overall introduction to the methods of quality continuous improvement Firstly, this essay, basing on the establishment of quality management system of Enterprises, discusses the close relationship between quality management system and continuous improvement.There is objectively a quality management system in every enterprise. During the operation of quality system, a series of problems will be exposed in training, organizing and coordinating, process control, system auditing, monitoring and measuring etc. These problems are exactly breakthrough point to improve quality. Quality improvement refers to the change that decreases slow waste by reducing defects and avoid customer's discontentment. This change is mainly achieved through finding out reason and adopting measures to correct. Improvement is usually called breakthrough as well.To implement quality improvement, the enterprise should know that quality improvement is achieved through improving process. Every procedure can achieve better effect and higher efficiency by less waste and source consumption. Enterprises should actively seek opportunities to improve process instead of waiting till the emergence of problems. At the same time, it has to be realized that quality improvement is a continuous activity. The effect of improvement can be checked through product quality, quality cost and economic benefit for enterprise.Secondly, enhance quality improvement management, and utilize properly supportive tools and technologies for quality improvement.After the determination of project to be improved, we should manage improvement in organizing, planning, measuring and evaluation aspects, ensuring effective implement of improvement and reflecting results to next plan in order to make improvement progress continuously in a correct direction.Specific improvement supportive tools include non-numerical data questionnaire, brainstorming, cause-and-effect chart, flow chart and other controlling chart, ranging chart suitable for number. Using these tools to stat production data, we can analyze difference, trends and changes reflected through data and transform them into information used in making decision.Thirdly, focus on process, and improve process in cycle by PDCA method.Every economic activity of the enterprise exists in the process, for example, designing process, production offer process, supporting process, providing and cooperation process. There is change occurs from disaccord between target and regulation during the process, that is variety. Variety, rooting in process, is usually generalized as 5M1E, that is, material, method, machine, man, environment and measure. In these varieties, some are stable process of inevitable random varieties, and others are unstable process of varieties caused by certain reason. The latter is easier to be detected through stating methods, and usually can be corrected. The relationship between variety and allowance range set by regulation can be showed by process capacity index.After the determination of deviation, PDCA cycle method can be used to continuously improve process defects. PDCA cycle is divided into four phases, that is, Plan, Do, Check and Action.Fourthly, recombining theoretical identification by business process reengineering and cutting down process activities that cann't adds value, applying improvement to it.The process refers to a series correlative activities process to create values for the customers. In the process, it may include a great rate of value activities for indirect producing export, so optimizing process will offer a huge contribution to cut the quality cost.Next, taking MSA product line of ArvinMeritor Changchun Faws Sihuan Car Brake Co., Ltd. as research subject, this essay makes further analysis of the cause of product line defects, and proposes methods to solve the problem.ArvinMeritor Changchun Faws Sihuan Car Brake Co., Ltd. is a brake manufacturer set by international automobile vehicle supplier ArvinMeritor in Changchun. Its MSA product line produces engine manual brake adjust arm. The product line was established and put into practice in 2005, adopting turning, milling, drilling, articulating and other technological processes. Its yearly outcome is up to 109937 items. Its product, as key security piece in whole car production, is highly demanding in quality. Through collecting and analyzing unqualified records of all the products before improvement, the author found the degree of defective goods was high. From current quality cost accounting, it shows there is still a quite large cost waste in the present project. Therefore, this essay makes a further analysis of quality influence factors in man, machine, material, method, environment and measure by cause-and-effect chart, and puts forward a improvement plan.Firstly, in the perspective of system, to make quality improvement as strategic development plan; leaders attach importance to it and whole staffs attach themselves to it; to enhance the recording, collecting, analyzing and utilizing of data information; to establish fine enterprise quality culture; to make staff training plan; to cultivate quality idea of focusing on customers.Secondly, in the perspective of process, supplier selection, mechanical functions, measuring methods and key procedures have been improved;Thirdly, in the perspective of flow, it improves present flow by two different ways. One way, according to traditional technology of process, puts miller in a area and drilling machine in another area; the other way processes nig end face first, then small end face and earring facet the last. The improved flow cuts down portage frequency and waiting time, shortens production cycle and enhances economic benefits.At last, this essay re-utilizes process capacity analysis and improvement tools to analyze new process and flow, and the conclusion that improvement provides process with breakthrough is drawn.
