China's flourishing Tourism has been developing fast in recent 20 years.. Jiuzhaigou Valley has becomes a world renowned scenic spot because of its diversity in natural scenery. As the domestic economy boasts, the number of visitors to the ravine increases year by year that becomes a big problem to the transportation. Therefore, it is urgent that the Jiuzhaigou Ravine take measures to relieve the transportation pressure in order to make the operation effective.Prolegomenon: the background and meaning of the research. Firstly, the number of visitors increases year by year that becomes a big problem to the transportation. Therefore, it is urgent that the Jiuzhaigou Ravine take measures to relieve the transportation pressure in order to make the operation effective. Secondly, China will focus on the environment-protection as the economy develops. For Jiuzhaigou Valley, distribution of the resource and environment-protection is especially important. Intelligent transportation systems could provide the technology to enable people to make smart choices and more importantly save the energy and reduce pollution. Thirdly, IT has been the mainstream nowadays. Our goal is to to improve the safety, security and efficiency of the scenic spot's transportation system through the deployment of ITS. Research concentrates on the application of computer and communications technologies to solving transportation problems and additionally to promoting the tourism industry. The Second Chapter: the operation condition of transportation in Jiuzhaigou Valley. Firstly, the visitor's behavior rule influences the transportation operation directly. Secondly, analysis of the transportation condition is on the basis of three factors: the way of dispatch, operation management and the visitor's satisfaction degree. The Third Chapter: Setting up the ITS according to the feature of the scenic spot. In the first place, we have to consider the main factors of establishment such as human resources, financial resource and technology resource. Additionally, it is important to clear about the purpose and the scheme. The fourth Chapter: Evaluation of ITS established. This chapter is the core of the thesis.(1) Promote the competitiveness of the scenic spot: Firstly, the thesis analysis the ITS from the product aspect. Philip divided the products into three categories: central product, dispensing product, supportive product and expanding product. ITS goes beyond the dispensing product as a managerial tool using IT. It promotes the competitiveness of the scenic spot being a supportive product. Secondly, in respect of the value chain, ITS helps the scenic spot to be more competitive. ITS enables the visitors to be more convenient so it is a value chain in itself. Moreover, the decision and control of every link in the value chain bases on the figure that is very efficient for management. Additionally, establishment of ITS could gear up the sharing of inter resource and enable the management to make smart decision so as to reduce the cost of operation.(2) Improve the management level: Firstly, ITS helps the management to be visible because it includes the TV inspection system and GPS location system. The visibility contains the requirement of transportation, the condition of the transportation and the condition of the road. Secondly, the management realizes the intellectualization. ITS integrates the mechanism into management which offers the assistance to management to judge the decision and evaluate the deployment and operation.(3) Gain the satisfaction of visitors: the chapter is mainly about the effect of ITS on the satisfaction degree. Primarily, we set three grades of satisfaction degree: the first is satisfaction in transportation operation; the second is convenience, comfort and safety. The third grade is about the set of the stops, the time waiting the bus, the service of the guide, the skill of the driver, the safety of the bus and the condition of the road. We analysis on the basis of these index and draw the conclusion that the satisfaction degree on the comfort and convenience is beyond the average level. Otherwise, the satisfaction on the safety is lower because the visitors could only be aware of the related factors. The fifth Chapter:Bring about the consideration of ITS application: Firstly, how to operate the ITS successfully. The guaranteeing factors are training people , preparing funds and the technology. As for training, one is to cultivate the notion of the transportation trend in future and the other is how to control the ITS. The funds are primarily used in upholding the system and the technology supports are directed at the software. Secondly, how to integral and improve the ITS. For instance, the ITS could link with other information systems or could set the stop boards in order to improve the communication with visitors. The topic of the thesis brings us some new idea for the reason that the thesis for the first time in theory probes into the ITS's application in Jiuzhaigou Valley. The writer illustrates the components of ITS from the aspect of management and evaluates the operation of ITS using the theories: the satisfaction degree, the value chain and so on. Finally, the application of ITS is popularized. The research is helpful also to the transportation operation in other scenic spots. The research mainly depends on the exact example, regards the transportation operation in Jiuzhaigou Valley as the target and demonstrates how to use the ITS to make the management more efficient. At the end of the research, the writer evaluates the application of ITS in nature.
