Study Of Inventory Management Based On Supply Chain Management

Under the background of supply chain management, different enterprise will make decision on product and supply depending on requirement information which comes from their downstream enterprise. The unreal demand information will be expanded gradually from down to up, and it will lead to inventory amount become larger and larger. When it reaches high level, deviation between the information which suppliers get and information in fact will be large. Because of the influent that requirement is enlarged, upstream supplier always holds high stock level than downstream supplier does. This leads to be overstock. The phenomena widely exist in supply chain of car-making, computer-making, commodity production industry. Professor Forrester first discovered this phenomenon in 1950s, and named it "bullwhip effect". Bullwhip effect is the main reason for stock undulation in supply chain management.The thesis just wants to work over the inventory management based on supply chain management. Methods that how to overcome bullwhip effect through information sharing in real time and cooperation between enterprise are introduced. These methods may optimize supply chain management, decrease stock level, fall the cost of stock holding, high service level for customers.First, ways and theory of development course of tradition stock management are introduced. Control method and model for separate requirement and correlation requirement are described in detail in the paper.Second, problem of stock lied in current supply chain environment is analysed. The problems include lacking of system theory in supply chain, lacking of information sharing, lacking of cooperation and coordination, lacking of service consciousness. Depending on integration rate, thinking, operation flow and implementation measure in VMI, JMI, CPFR, BPR are described. The advantages and disadvantages of these models are analysed.At last, some key point which should be noticed in stock management in supply chain are proposed. These key points include building of management information system of supply chain, reorganization of enterprise service flow and performance appraisal in supply chain management.
