Six Sigma And Aircraft Maintenance Management In China Eastern Airlines Gansu

Six sigma was initiated in 1987 by Motorola and thereafter gained popularity in many companies. How to apply the methodology and localize effectively it in China has been an important question for discussion.Recently, civil aviation industry unprecedented inflated and so did the competitions between the airlines. Therefore it is very important for airlines to effectively control and manage the aviation maintenance to ensure flight safety and company development.China Eastern Airlines started to apply Six sigma methodology in 2005. Maintenance Division of Gansu Branch extended it in accordance with its actual conditions and the strategy of the company's; we made great progress in Q&C management in the last two years, changing from a line maintenance workshop into a general maintenance base.Analyzing the reliability management and implement of Six sigma methods in Maintenance Division, I hope to achieve both academic and practical breakthrough in the push to Six sigma in aviation maintenance companies and in medium and small enterprises.Firstly this thesis begins with the guide to Six sigma methodology; Secondly, analyzing the difference between reliability management and Six sigma methodology, hence we arrive at the following conclusion that it is quite necessary to apply Six sigma in aviation maintenance; Thirdly, analyzing the history of Q&C management and existing problems in Maintenance Division, we think it essential to imply new methods and theories, that is "Six sigma". We put forward Six sigma managing project according to our actual situations. Finally, expiating the case of improving the flight regularity in Maintenance Division of Gansu Branch, we explain the implement of Six sigma in our Division.
