The Research Of Software Pricing Method Based On The Impact Of Piracy

Software industry is a strategic industry in national economy and software product is its core product. Software piracy is a global problem and it prevents the health development of software industry. Many countries and companies have moved against software piracy through issuing law or using advanced technology, but the market share of piracy is still high. Now the figure in China is above 90%.One of the reason caused the piracy is that the price of original software is too high. While the governments and enterprises using countermeasures to prevent piracy, they ignore the consumer's great demand of software and lower purchasing power. So the countermeasures used by the government and companies are not very scientific and it is proved not to reach its goal through yeas of practice. The author thinks we should solve the series of problem step by step under proper protection. We should make a suitable price for the software product and then we should make good use of market rule meanwhile we should rely on the government's regulation.In the paper, the author introduce the characteristic of software's producing and consuming and it's intellectual property. The paper analysis the reason of the piracy, such as lower purchasing power and huge demand of consumer, huge profit and difficult to protect the intellectual property. The author gives some new idea to solve the problem. In chapter 4, the author bring forward differential pricing according to the different edition and establish the pricing model; and then analysis the feasibility of the method. In chapter 5, the author studied the usage of two-part pricing method in antivirus software pricing. In chapter 6, the author make comparison of the two ways of pricing, one is the original software to charge lower price, the other is to adopt the differential pricing method combined with the case of "red storm" antivirus software. We analysis the market share and the increase of social welfare under this tow way.The manufacturer of software may achieve rapid development and get locking effect, take back their cost rapidly and promote it's competitive ability meanwhile create their own brand if they can make a reasonable price of their product referent to the method above. At the same time, with the decline of piracy, we may inspire the innovation, promote the healthy development of software industry and further optimize the social welfare.
