Based on the theory of ecological footprint and consumption characteristic of travel activities, the article uses the ecological footprint analyses on the research area of scenic spots'ecological footprint. As the goal of taking opens up the quantitative investigation scope under the traveling sustainable development on different criterions, it uses several methods such as the literature analytic method, the open country inspection and the social investigation method, the quota methodology and the real diagnosis analytic method and so on. Take the theory of sustainable development and eco-economics, the theory of Human-land System, the theory of regional connection, the theory of environmental bearing capacity, the theory of analytic method of ecological footprint and the tourist ecology trail as the rationale, it constructs the estimation target system of ecological footprint and the model of quantitative estimation of the scenic spots. This article altogether is divided 7 chapters to carry on the elaboration. First chapter summarizes the research progress of"the ecological footprint"and"the tourism ecological footprint"in domestic and foreign, and then evaluates its present research situation. Second chapter obtains from the research goal and the significance, proposes the bare bone, research methods and the technical route. As the theoretical foundation, third chapter has elaborated the intrinsic theory origin of the tourism ecological footprint, and has also made the key elaboration to the correlation theory of the analytic method of ecological footprint and the tourism ecological footprint. Fourth chapter by the principle of the target selection to the estimation in scenic spots'ecological footprint, including the scientific nature, the overall completeness, the systematic characteristic, the comparability and the maneuverability, has selected the target screening method. It constructs the estimation target structure of scenic spots'ecological footprint. Based on the target system, fifth chapter has established the component models of the ecological footprint, including the dining, the lodgings, the transportation, the tour, the shopping and the entertainment. Then it makes the further quantification analysis to the component model, and constructs estimation model to various components. Sixth chapter, taking the national 5A level scenic area-Luoyang Longmen Grottoes scenic area as the example, calculates and analyses its tourism ecological footprint in 2006. Furthermore, it has made appraisal from three aspects—the ecological deficit, the region expansion and the ecological center. The seventh chapter points out the major point and the shortcoming of this article, and proposes the direction of the following research.Through the research, it can draw following several conclusions:(1) The tourism ecological footprint in scenic spots which obtained through the model of scenic spots'ecological footprint, can objectively and really reflect the target how many natural resources tourism activities consumes in scenic spots.(2) The essential factors that affect the scenic spots'ecological footprint mainly include the traveling flows, the consumption level and the expense pattern of the tourists, and the space behavior on consumer.(3) The model in scenic spots'ecological footprint can estimate the ecological footprint in microscopic level region (scenic spots), and obtain the ecological deficit and the ecology center area of the scenic spots through the model estimation. It finally reflects the ecology demand of the tourism activity about the spots and the influence and dependence to the environment development in the ecological center.(4) The tourism ecological footprint about spots can't completely reflect the sustainable development condition about the spots'tourism. The region outside the scenic spots and the scenic spots compose a giant open system together. The material flow, energy flow and the human flow inside and outside the system, mutually affects and mutually interacts. It eventually causes the region shift of the tourism ecology responsibility and the region expansion of ecology influence. It also makes the development of the spots'tourism have the characteristic of global ecology influence.(5) The total ecological footprint of all tourists in Luoyang Longmen Grottoes scenic spot in 2006 is 47830.21hm2, and the average per person ecology footprint is 0.03hm2. The transportation is the most important factor that affects the ecological environment. The traveling diet is second important factor. The traveling lodging, the tour, the shopping and the entertainment take little. This article innovation place has following two points:It attempts to establish the targets systems of scenic spots'ecological footprint and the estimation model, and does further discusses on the basis of calculation and the data gain on various factors in this foundation; It takes the model of scenic spots'ecological footprint to apply to the Luoyang Longmen Grottoes scenic spot.
