The concentration degree is a core index in measuring market structure. It has asignificant effect on the market conduct and performance. The theory of concentrationdegree of the general industry has been matured inland and abroad. However, there arescarce studies of that of the travel service industry. The travel service industry of China isnow coming into an opening stage of development. Relative to the developed country, itsconcentration degree is low. So it has to face the various problems that caused by its small,loose, poor and awful. The low concentration degree has been an obstacle for China'stravel service industry. So, to solve the problem of China's concentration degree isnecessary and urgent.Grounded on the theory of concentration degree of the general industry, the thesisfocuses on exploring the factors that can influence the concentration degree of travelservice industry. Combing with the background and present situation of China's travelservice industry, the author puts forward the proposition of moderate concentrateddevelopment, and discusses the approaches of it. So the thesis has the theoretical andrealistic significance to the development of China's travel service industry.The thesis consists five chapters:In Chapter One, the author mainly explains the research backgrounds, and presentsthe basic concepts and theory, comments the study of the concentration degree of travelservice industry inland and abroad. In Chapter Two, the author makes a detailed study onthe factors that can influence the concentration degree of travel service industry. Thosefactors are the basic characteristics and lifecycle of tourism industry, the differentia of theproduct, the market conduct and market performance of travel service industry, and thegovernment regulation. In Chapter Three, the author explores the developing process ofthe concentration degree of travel service industry in China and Qingdao. In Chapter Four,based on the analysis of the background of China's travel service industry, the author putsforward the proposition of moderate concentrated development, and discusses themeaning and criterion of it. In Chapter Five, the author gives a few feasible suggestionson the moderate concentrated development, which includes the establishment ofprofessional division system, the formation of core capability, the integration, and themodernization of property right of travel service industry.
