CMM, as one kind of enterprise operation and management system which combines the modern management theory and quality engineering, has leading the software industry of America, Europe, and India to large-scale production from the traditional workshop. There are nearly 200 companies of China have been certified with CMM2 or 3, unfortunatly, most of the companies just take it as the process to acquire the certification, but not realize that CMM could benefit the improvement of corporation competence.Because CMM is a set of standards, it is mainly focused on the common key factors in the processes. How to tailor it to fit the different project context and those too much possibility existing in the project is a challenging issue, this thesis try to answer this questions by analyzing the relationship between CMM quality model and quality competence, also it analyzed the mechanism how the CMM improve corporations competence using the method of Excellent Performance Appraise Criteria.Chapter one briefly introduces the status of the international quality management and the basic theories of quality management;Chapter two describes the background of CMM quality system model, the framework of CMM quality system, including the definitions of maturity level, internal structure and key process areas;In chapter three, we analyzed the relationship of CMM quality system model and corporation competence by focusing on the key factors of quality competence upon the theory of the structure model of corporation competence;In chapter four, it is introduced how to apply the key practices of CMM quality model to the project implementation by some instances. The practices include the choice of project lifecycle model, tailoring of project process, estimating of workload, arranging of project schedule, analyzing of project decision and project risk management.
