Research On The Relation Between Industrial Agglomeration And Industrial Competitiveness Of Jiangsu Province

As an effective industrial organization form, industrial agglomeration becomes one of the most important economic phenomena in recent years and attracts attention of many domestic and overseas scholars. It attracts so much attention because it plays an important role in promoting industrial and regional economy. Industrial agglomeration relates to industrial competitiveness in some way, but it is not the necessary condition of promoting industrial competitiveness.The principal part of this paper analyzes industrial agglomeration, industrial competitiveness and the relation between them and puts forward policy suggestions based on the analyzing results. When analyzing industrial agglomeration, industrial clusters of Jiangsu province are identified using the location quotient in the first place, then the industrial cluster degrees of those industries which are identified are calculated using comprehensive industrial concentration index, and at last, the problems existing in the development of industrial agglomeration are pointed out. When analyzing industrial competitiveness, comprehensive index evaluation method is used to evaluate it, and the synthesized scores in the comprehensive index evaluation method are calculated by the principal component analysis method. Based on the analysis of industrial agglomeration and industrial competitiveness separately, the relation between them is studied. The point-fold line charts are drawn on the basis of the comprehensive industrial concentration data and synthesized scores data. The concept of industrial competitiveness-agglomeration elasticity is brought forward to study the relation.
