A Research On The Rural Urbanization With Chinese Characteristics

The problems of agriculture, rural areas, and farmers have become one of the core problems cumbering China's economic growth, social equality, and the nation's modernization."The Three Issues"have become an obstacle to the actualization of genuine social development and the modernization enterprise. The solutions to the problems of agriculture, rural areas, and farmers, the realization of harmonious development between the urban and rural areas, and the realization of the societal and economic modernization ultimately, hinge on the agricultural modernization and rural urbanization. The development of the rural urbanization is essential to eliminating the duo-social and economic structure; to narrowing down the economic discrepancy between the urban and rural areas; and to coordinating the social and economic development between them. It is of inestimable significance in optimally distributing such productive elements as land, labor force, and capital on a large scale. The route to the rural urbanization with Chinese characteristics to effect uniformity between the urban and the rural, has a direct impact on millions upon millions of farmers'fundamental interest. It also concerns the sustainable and healthy development of the nation's modernization drive and successful actualization of building an all-round well-off society; it is not merely a cardinal policy to construct an all-round well-off society, but also a necessary option to speed up our modernization. The rural urbanization and its consequent social and economic phenomena, have already been one of the most prominent characteristics in the modernization course. The route thus formed to the rural urbanization has been designated as"Chinese mode of urbanization".The issues concerning the rural urbanization with Chinese characteristics constitute a complex and extensive subject, involving politics, economics, sociology, environmental science, demography and so on. The thesis conducts an in-depth inquiry from the angle of the status quo of Chinese rural urbanization, from of theoretical exploration and practice, and from of theoretical contemplation in virtue of literature, investigation, theoretical examination, empirical analysis. Temporally, the thesis focuses on the rural urbanization against the backdrop of building an all-round well-off society in the years to come until 2020. In view of historic continuity, the thesis reviews both the development process and its valuable experience and lessons since the foundation of the PRC , especially since the opening up and reform; spatially, the thesis targets the rural urbanization in the mainland (leaving out Taiwan province, Hongkong and Macao SARs); topically, the rural urbanization involves a handful of issues. The thesis focuses on the Chinese characteristics of the development route of Chinese rural urbanization, including its recognition and plausibility of its route and its buttressing conditions.
