With the rapid development of the global economy and the living standard of the people, tourism will become not only a necessity of life, but also a fashion of consumption. Therefore, the societal demand for tour guides is increasing year by year. Graduates from Vocational colleges, which is an important training base for guides, however, are up against an embarrassing employment situation. On the one hand, tour guides are urgent needs by tourism; On the other hand, it is too narrow a space for employment of graduates from higher vocational colleges. It is related with the trend of"academic community"in the 21st century and the"talent-higher-consumption"of the employers, but the prior reason maybe is the lack of features in professional Vocational training and the competitive strength of guides. Enterprises may weight professional personals more seriously. Vocational ability is the aggregation of a series of stable capabilities and qualities when engaged in a particular vocational activity successfully, including vocational qualities, vocational knowledge and vocational skills.This paper firstly proposes the concept of the vocational ability of guides, then analyses the content of it from the perspective of tour guides' duties and tourists' necessity. By constructing the framework of the vocational abilities of guides, we hope to provide a theoretical reference for vocational training for professional tour guides. In order to understand the current situation in professional guides-training and the desire of the enterprises, we design questionnaires refers to the importance of vocational ability and the current vocational ability of students. By comparing the results of these two surveys, we try to identify the gap between business needs and the vocational abilities of the professional tourists, and then discover the problems in the course of vocational training. Finally, we bring forward the basic content and the approaches of the vocational ability-training, as well as the security conditions for this training.
