GIS-assisted Farmland Classification Research

With the development of economy, the growth of population and the quick expansion of cities, the land demand is increasing rapidly, the amount of the farmland is decreasing constantly, and the contradiction between people and land becomes more and more serious in Wuwei County. It is one of important basic contents of a new round survey and comprehensive evaluation on land resources in our country to develop the comprehensive evaluation on farmland quality level overall and scientifically and quantify the quantity, quality and distribution of farmland scientifically. It provides the evidence for implementing cultivated land occupy-fill balance system in the whole county, clearing up the land value system, perfecting the land market, promoting the reasonable allocation of land resources, carrying on land arrangement, land expropriation compensation and rural collective land use right circulation, etc. Furthermore, GIS has the powerful spatial data analysis function to assistant to process lots of maps and attribute data which can reduce the work intensity and improve the work efficiency. So it is necessary to apply GIS to farmland classification.According to"The Regulations on Farmland Gradation and Classification"and"The Implement Scheme of Farmland Classification in Anhui province", the farmland in Wuwei county is classified and gradated based on the deep investigation of farmland actual situation in Wuwei and the collection and analysis of a great deal of information by some softwares, such as Excel, Access, SPSS, ARC/INFO and Arcview in this thesis.In the course of the research, the partition method of the farmland classification cells, the establishment of the spatial and attribute database and the selection of the factors in farmland classification are emphatically discussed in this thesis.The author gets some ideas about the farmland classification from the result analysis and proposes some suggestions. In theory, the definition and connotation of the classification and the gradation, further proof of the scientificity of the utilization and integration classification and comparability of different indexes need to be improved. In operation, the uniform of the criterion of the equal classification space, the breakthrough to the boundary of administrative village in the equivalence region of land use coefficient and land economic coefficient, and the representative problem of the photothermal potential productivity need to be improved.Through above work, it is hope to provide certain reference value for the farmland utilization, exploitation and arrangement in Wuwei County in the future.
