Under the trend of international economic unify, many large international manufacturing companies have pushed up the space of expansion in the world, and sought the best manufacture and market place. They aim at obtaining the international benefit through the resource restructuring, the organization of production, research and development and marketing in the world. In this period, with our country's entry to the World Trade Organization, the open extent of market is further improving. China becomes the manufacturing base of multinational companies. More and more multinational companies are attracted by the tremendous market potentials and increase their investment in Chinese market. So the competition in the market is so fierce that the domestic competition has been converted to international competition. In the circumstances, Chinese manufacturing companies must improve their abilities in the global market so as to resist external pressure. How to proceed with the international business of Chinese companies becomes an important research project in Chinese business circles, academia as well as governmental agencies. Against above background, this paper introduces academic theories about international operation which can guide Chinese enterprises to outspread international operation. Followed, by summarizing the regular pattern and experience of international business in developed countries, this paper expatiate on the necessity and feasibility for the strategy of international operation of Chinese manufacturing enterprises. This article combines its research on the practice of international operation of Chinese manufacturing enterprise and concludes the features and problems by three typical enterprises. Finally, it brings forward some principles and suggestions of international operation for Chinese manufacturing enterprises.This article includes five parts:First part: Theories for international operation which includes traditional international capital flow theories, modern international investment theories and the developing countries'transnational corporation theories. Comprehending these theories provides the foundation for the further research on international operation.Second part: Analysis of the developing process of international operation in developed countries and the development of economy and management mode. By analyzing and comparing among these three factors, the paper brings forward the connection among international operation, economy development and enterprise management. It provides thinking for research on international operation of Chinese manufacturing enterprises.Third part: The paper analyzes the history and present conditions of international operation for Chinese manufacturing enterprises then states the necessity and choice. After that, it brings forward that capital participation mode will be the main pattern and development trend of international operation for Chinese manufacturing enterprises.Forth part: The article summarizes the common problems of international operation of Chinese manufacturing enterprises by research on three typical and characteristic companies: Haier, Lenovo and Huawei.Fifth part: On the basis of above analysis, the paper states some principles and suggestions to the problems of these companies. Through the extensive analysis and research on international operation, this paper makes new thinking of international operation. It synthesizes different factors to measure the extent of internationalization in order to find the disadvantages of international operation. Furthermore, this article states some valuable opinions on the selection of international operation strategy and mode for Chinese manufacturing companies.
