This study aims at exploring major factors of and influence by leadership and management behavior during the lifecycle of small-size private enterprise through statistical and theoretical methods. Three issues are discussed, including major factors of leadership and management behaviors, particular leadership and management behavior through different stages of enterprise lifecycle and practical suggestions to managers.A sample of more than 300 employees from 31 organizations is involved in the statistical research of the study. An interview with 6 top-level managers from 6 other enterprises is also given as a supplement to the statistical research and theoretical discussion.The major findings of the study are summarized as the following: (1) Leadership includes 5 factors: planning future, encouraging innovation, regarding subordinates, personal charisma and work with subordinates; management includes 3 factors: traditional management behavior, result orientation and officiating. (2) During stage of birth, "planning future" has a positive impact on employee's "job clarity"; "working with subordinates" has a positive impact on employee's "self-evaluation of performance". (3) During stage of growth, "officiating" has a positive impact on employee's "self-evaluation of performance". (4) During stage of maturity, the impact between leadership or management behavior and employee's satisfaction or performance is not statistically significant. (5) During the stage of revival, "regarding subordinates" has a positive impact on employee's "growing environment". (6) During all stages, managers must make progress in personal respect continuously so that they can influence subordinates through untraditional ways.
