The current situation of the vegetable industry in Suzhou was fully analyzed and the characteristics, advantages, and restrictive factors of the vegetable industry in Suzhou. The vegetable cultivation area of Suzhou remained stable, and the protected vegetable cultivation area exhibited ascendance. Many kinds of vegetable were cultured there in Suzhou, mainly including the Chinese cabbage group, the legumes, the guard, and the aquatic vegetables. And the cultivation area of pak-choi, green soybean and watermelon were the highest, which embodied the characteristics of the city suburb vegetable industry. And vegetable won a higher ratio and more economic value compared with other horticultural plants in Suzhou. The processed vegetable and export vegetable of Suzhou also represented the top levels in Jiangsu province.2. Suzhou had the advantages in the natural resources, the social environment and the economic conditions to develop vegetable industry, so the basic conditions for the vegetable industry in Suzhou were good.
