Current Status Of And Strategic Development In Potato Industry In Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region

In line with practical review in combination with theoretical analysis, normative exploration with case study, the paper collected data and information through interviewing individual farmers, industrial leadership and local authority and through literature review on internet and statistics as well as literature data base. A thourogh analysis as to potato industries in Ningxia with respect to production, development, benefits share as well as internal management and operation mechanisms were made.Through in depth analysis and pratical exploration, some strategic measures as to solving the problems faced by the potato industries in Ningxia were suggested. It is believed that strategic development of potato in Ningxia should:i)take the advantage of resources aboundance; ii) take the road of technological innovation and mechanism innovaton; iii) optimize the industrial structure; iv) pay increased attention to cultivating"dragon head brand"; v) strength marketing measures to broaden product occupancy in a larger scale; vi) establish a complete breeding and propagation system to increase the per unit yield and upgrade the quality of products.; vii) organize industrial group to strengthen technological innovation;and viii) enlongate market chain and foster specialized market place. Besides these strategic measure, good relationship between government and corporation; corporation and farmers, development speed and benefit, and domestical market and international market should be maintained. Only in this way can potato industrial development be on a stable and sound track, benefit the local people and local economy.The thesis also believes that development of potato industry in Ningxia, especially in the south of Ningxia is an important measure for fostering new pole of economic growth and will positively affect the potato industry throughout the country. Technological innovation and institutional innovation is the enginge to drive the industry. With the progress of western development campaign and globalization in economy, potato industry in Ningxia would have more opportunities to elevate its level through technological innovation and new operational mechanism. The thesis hope the strategic suggestions for potato development in Ningxia can be considere by the government or industries for decision making as reference.
