This thesis comes from the subject at National Science Fund Research Project: development of urban system in Yangtze River Delta Region in the course of economic globalization(Grant No. 50678117), which my tutor prof. Tang Zilai si resposible for. In the recent years, Economic globalization is playing a more and more import part in the urban systems of every country and region. All the countries and regions more and more integrating to the global economic system. First, the thesis establishes the global index, and analyzes the evolutions of all parameters especially the foreign direct investment and the overseas treading, then judges the effects imposed by economic globalization on Hangzhou, Jaxing and Huzhou, which measures the extents they integrate into the global value chain. At the same time, mark the positions of the three cities in the Yangtse Delta Region through comparations. Finally, the thesis discusses how the three cities integrate into the world value chain through typical industry clusters, and how it leads to the economic developments of the three cities.The paper shows that economic globalization index of these three cities is at a lower lever in the Yangtse Delta Region. Between 1995 and 2000, index of Jaxing and Huzhou have experienced a rapid growth. Between these three cities, Jaxing has the maximum index, while Huzhou has the minimum index at 2005. The paper also shows Hangzhou at the high grade of value chain in the Yangtse Delta Region, while Jaxing and Huzhou at the low grad of value chain with the feature of high proportion of labor-intensive industry. The course of economic globalization is of great importance to industry restructuring of cities and their functional transformation in the regional system. With expansion of transnational corporations in these three cities, transnational corporations put them into low grade of their global value chain.
