East Asia is lies in west bank of the Pacific, general including land along the Pacific coast with a large population and vast lands.It is beautiful and rich with varied race, ethnicity, language, religion and culture. States are linked together by land and sea, and the common interests as well.East Asia has created economic miracles one after another in the world.Despite the impact of financial crisis in 1997,East Asian countries have recovered and now are getting a new period of economic growth.Economic globalization and regional economic integration are parallel with each other. The particular trend after the World War II constitute the profound changes in the world economy.By the year of 2007, the World Trade Organization (WTO) declared that over 300 free trade agreements (FTA) have already been founded.As a specific geographical unit,East Asia has made a great success in the post-war economic development.Now it is known as one of the three major economic regions in the world as Europe and North America.But so far no regional cooperation organization in East Asia covering the entire region.This makes the three of the largest economic entity in East Asia - Japan, China and South Korea separeted from the regional organizations.This is clearly contrary to the trend.This paper generally on the obstacles of economic integrition in East Asiat .Then from some regularities to explore the presumption of economic integration in East Asia.The first part of the paper is the concept and type on regional economic integration, as well as the basic theory and the current research.They are the theory of a customs union,common market theory, the theory of international division of labor agreements and public choice theory,and so on. The next section briefly on the process of economic integration in East Asia including the development and the results of the economic integration in East Asia and the prominent characteristics of the process.The second part is the focus of this paper.It is the Analysis on obstacles of The economic integrition in East Asia.Firstly,from the international environment of East Asia to get the background of regional economic integrition in other .Secondly, it comes to the distinguishing features on the process of economic integration in East Asia. Mainly,the process is lagged behind, non-institutional and open.Finally,analysis on the three major obstacles:the preferences of sovereignty,as well as lack of leading countries and the US factor.The third part,for the three obstacles,it given the corresponding solving approach.These approach include to give full play to promote market forces to break sovereignty preferences,to form the regional industrial division of labor and its deepening,support the ASEAN-leading regional institutionalization to avoid stuggle for dominance,to place importance on the United States in the economic integration in east Asia to play a constructive role,governments must play a leading role,exploring new model of regional economic integration to eliminate obstacles etc.Then it put forward proposals on China's policy options.Namely,China is to improve the economic integration process in East Asia for its rise as a strategic area to rely on.That is to establish semi-regional FTAs and multi-bilateral FTAs.It is important to improve economical relations and make it easy for Japan to return to Asia.Economic integration in East Asia may be a gradual process and is a very urgent mission of the time as well.There are a variety of constraints outside and inside the region because it is impossible to bridge the differences within a short period of time.On the other hand, East Asia will be incorporated into US'regional institutions because of the strong regional radiation of United States'economy.As a important country in East Asia, China should do something.China located in East Asia. East Asia must be the strategic areas for the rise of China.East Asia is the natural economic circle for China to integrate its economy into the world economy,to participate in the international division of labor and expand economic impact.As a positive driving force,China must improve the process of economic integration in East Asia,creating harmony and realize national rejuvenation. .
