This paper is completed on the basis of the project the second National Land Survey from the second land survey office the Ministry of Land and Resources. The main content of the paper is the application of 3S in the land survey work. By analyzing the source of error, the article researches systematically on three main parts: the base map production, land investigation and the database. How to choose the remote sensing data is determined by the quantitative analysis; different remote sensing data is processed by different image enhancement method; detailed interpretation signs are established; rational land-use database architecture is established. Main results are as follows:1. The sources of error of land survey are analyzed systematically; Evaluation methods and evaluation basis of the land survey accuracy are proposed.2. Different kinds of remote sensing data are analyzed deeply. The methods of choosing remote sensing data are proposed by the basis of human eye ability and the visual-capacity of the mixed pixels, and the remote sensing data for different scales of the second national land survey maps are chosen.3. Discussing the problems that should pay attention in the production of base map of second national land survey. Proposing three methods for image spectroscopy enhancement, discussing the scope of them to use; Analyzing the difference of remote sensing data and the difference of image sharpening for them.4. Analyzing how to control the accuracy of the land survey results. Describing the application scope of different mapping methods. Interpretation signs are established for the main eight land categories: farmland, garden, woodland, grassland, transportation land, water and irrigation facilities, other lands, towns, villages and mining sites. Describing the mapping methods for lines regions isolated features and the added-land features.5. Reasonable logical structure is established for the land survey database. The application of remote sensing and GIS in the consistency of the land categories is analyzed.
