The Study On Passenger Transportation Enterprise Efficiency By Stochastic Frontier Production

The passenger transportation enterprise ,as an important component of the road traffic, being lack of the analysis basis of the passenger transportation enterprise production efficiency, cases the development blindness of many passenger transportation enterprises. Therefore according to the local actual situation, the studies of reasonable development scale of the passenger transportation enterprise and guiding the passenger transportation enterprise to develope toward maximization goal of the efficiency appears especially important. In this thesis, the question of how to analyze the efficiency of the passenger transportation enterprises is conducted.In this thesis, the idea of efficiency analysis in the realm of production is referenced, and production efficiency of passenger transportation enterprise in the service domain is analyzed from two aspects of the cost efficiency and the economies of scale. First efficiency general concept is summarized , differences between the efficiency and the benefit are discriminated and the concept of passenger transportation enterprise efficiency is put forward. Then comparative analysis is carried among three efficiency analysis method: Ratio analytic method, return analytic method and front analytic method. Considering the multi-inputs and multi-outputs type of the passenger transportation enterprise, and for the integrity and the objectivity of the efficiency valuing, the cost of inefficiency and the influence of any anti-random disturbance factors need to be studied and differentiated in the passenger transportation enterprise production. In the frontier analytic method, frontier production function model that considers the random error influencing factors is used as the main method. Next the commonly used cost functions including the Cobb-Douglas cost function model and the Translog cost function model are studied and compared, after various factors such as function elasticity, elasticity and parameter integer are evaluated , the Translog cost function is taken as the basic model to analyze the efficiency of the passenger transportation enterprise. Then when input and output variables of cost determination function are determined, because of the consideration of the passenger transportation enterprise as a service enterprise, being different with the Production enterprise, the characteristic of production to meet the service nature requirement, therefore the seat distance in kilometer and the network length are used as the output item, and job performance power cost and each seat's cost for input , the passenger transportation private costs efficiency model is established based on the Translog cost function form. Finally the Zhao qing Passenger transportation Enterprise's efficiency in 2007 is analyzed by this method as an example.At present, efficiency analysis of the production in passenger transportation enterprise is always kept in the qualitative stage, the quantitative evaluation are very few. This thesis has certain guiding sense to the comprehensive appraisal of passenger transportation enterprise's efficiency, promulgate the degree of inefficiency of the passenger transportation enterprise, determine the definite enterprise development scale as well as to raise enterprise's economic efficiency .
