Research On Suppliers Management In Chinese Shipbuilding Industry

With the expanding of world ship market Chinese shipbuilding industry has shown a trend of rapid development. Particularly in recent years, Chinese shipbuilding industry has kept ranking third in the world for nine years. Compared with the same industry abroad, the profits are very low. One of reasons lies in the lower loading rate of domestic equipments. In the process of shipbuilding, purchasing cost takes up 70% of the total ship cost. In order to reduce the purchasing cost and control the risk of production and management, centralized purchasing has been carried out by our government since 1999.Because there are a great variety of and a large number of suppliers and the suppliers spread over a considerable extent, how to manage the suppliers well is a critical problem for Chinese shipbuilding industry.Based on the domestic and foreign related literatures, the paper deeply analyzes the present situation of the suppliers of shipbuilding industry and puts forward the common problems about suppliers management existing in shipbuilding industry, and based on it the paper reclassifies the present suppliers and the management will be exercised accordingly. And then it constructs an choosing and evaluating index system of supplies for shipbuilding industry and it proposes that shipbuilding corporations should establish a cooperative relationship with suppliers in the shipbuilding supply chain. Finally, it puts forward the specific encouraging and controlling measures for suppliers.
