Study On The Development Of Wuxi Binhu Urban Agriculture

The transformation of agriculture from traditional to modern to higher-level is a common trend of agricultural development all over the world. Urban agriculture is one of special and important types of modern agriculture. Following with the rapid development of urbanization and integration of rural and urban, urban agriculture has a more and more prominent position, and performs a very important role in the construction of our country's agricultural modernization. Urban agriculture has a lot of successes and development patterns in the developed countries, and research and practice have also been carried out in our country's big and medium-sized cities and provincial cities in recent years, but the research on the county-level urban agriculture is relatively few. This thesis studies the development and countermeasure of urban agriculture in Binhu District, using theory study and positive analysis, and gets some main results as followings.First, it studies the theories of urban agriculture, summarizes the development background, theory origin and basic functions of urban agriculture, analyses the development patterns of urban agriculture in countries as USA, Japan, Singapore and etc. and regions as Taiwan, sums up the successes and analyses the enlightenments of the development of urban agriculture in China, and put forward that our country should choose the regionally differentiated, phased, high-level and all-directional type of urban agricultural development and the pattern taking account of economical, social and ecological benefit.Second, from a viewpoint of the survey of Binhu District and the present situation of its agriculture, it analyses the advantages and existing restraining factors of the urban agricultural development in Binhu District. It puts forward that the urban agricultural development in Binhu District should be guided by the scientific concept of development with overall development of rural and urban as s general strategy, and Binhu District then may realize three transformations of modes of production and management and growth of urban agriculture. Through building three important areas and developing farming with features and facilities, and improving quality and safety level of agricultural products, Binhu District may promote and develop the urban agriculture as a whole.Third, it puts forward 10 development countermeasures and scientific proposals to the urban agricultural development in Binhu District, Wuxi City in 21 century.
