Business Strategy Study Of NPIT Company

Facing severe management and development challenges for system reformation in port industry, port companies are actively searching new opportunities and solutions. "Developing port by technology, enhancing core competitive power by informationization" is a necessary alternative. NPIT is a subordinate body of Ningbo Port Group. This study focuses on what strategy should be applied in NPIT to grasp opportunities, avoid hazards, exert advantages, conquer disadvantages, judge developing direction and maintain company's continuous survival and development.Firstly, the study introduces the situations of NPIT and NingBO Port Group,point out some restricting problems such as business qualifications and product. PEST analysis is applied to analyzes industry environments of NPIT, including Political, Economic , Social and Technological. Particular analyzes internal resources of NPIT, including staff, finance, cooperation partners and marketing programs. In the following, SWOT theory , TWOS Matrix and Boston Matrix are applied to estimate NPIT and judge advantage, disadvantage, opportunity and threat. A composite strategy is confirmed—develop wireless businesses (application system, network, host computer, EDI, video control and 800MHz) and construct four main businesses; depending on the famous brand—Ningbo Port, increase new customers from surrounding entrepreneurs and tap into medium and small-sized port markets; in order to strengthen NPIT's competitive power, cooperate with IT companies and carry out HR Management Strategy. Finally, the study describes a few steps to implement the composite strategy.The study is composed of seven parts, including foreword, theory explanation, situations introduce, the analysis of internal and external environments and SWOT analysis, choices of business strategy, establishment and implementation, conclusion and suggestion.Data materials used in this study is combining theory with practice, which credibly and objectively mirrors NPIT actual situation. Theories used in strategy are popular models. Therefore, a conclusion is drawn scientifically and the strategy could have suggestive values.
