Study On Textile And Clothing Trade Of China And ASEAN-3

On January 1, 2005, the WTO members' textile and the clothing quota were cancelled completely, but this did not mean that from 2005, the members can export and import textile and clothing without limit. The textile trade enters "the quota time". China and ASEAN-3 are countries in Asia and also are powerful nations of textile exports. These four countries have many similarities in the geographical position, the natural condition and the technical level in production. So these four countries have many similarities in trade structure. That means there are much competition in product export and market especially in textile trade between China and ASEAN-3. Therefore before the truly forms of the global textile trade integration, three countries become to be the pressure to China day by day. Under the quick development of China and ASEAN-3 textile and clothing products trade, this article is to study the textile industry of China and ASEAN-3, using the comprehensive analysis, to discuss four countries' exportation structures of textile and their trade relations.At first, thesis introduces the explanation about industries or products competition ability in international trade theories, and then it discuss the concept, the influence factors. In the next chapter, thesis compares the sale situation of every country's textile and clothing products in world market, through the SWOT analysis, writer tries to analyze the strength, weakness, opportunity, threat of the four countries. On the basis of textile and clothing in HS.1996, by calculating Export Similarity Index, MS and RCA index, thesis analyzes China and ASEAN-3's relations in bilateral textile and clothing products trade. According to calculating result, we get the conclusion that China and ASEAN-3 compete in total, while complement in part. So China and ASEAN-3 countries should adjust their textile and clothing structure and products trading structure. At the same time, China and ASEAN-3 should cooperate in other aspects of textile and clothing production, such as textile and clothing technology, mutual investment and so on.
