A Study On The International Competitiveness Evaluation Of High-tech Industry In Beijing

The incoming of knowledge economy age makes high-tech enterprise play a more important role in national economy, and becomes a new increasing point for science economy. With the China joining WTO, high-tech enterprises are facing severe competence. High-tech, the dominant technology in information age is the most important growth point of national economy. The international competitiveness in high-tech industry indicates the national economic power of a country. In this thesis, through the Beijing compare of the competitiveness conditions in high-tech industries of various Beijing and the portrait compare of certain country city's high-tech industry competitiveness in different time periods, the status in international high-tech industry can be known which will help the Beijing government in macro-economic polices-making.In this thesis, the meaning of international competitiveness, the definition and the identification of high-tech industry were discussed first. Then it analyses the theoretical basis of international competitiveness of high-tech industry research, such as the Porter's competitiveness theory, comparative advantage and competitive advantage theory. These basic theories of competitiveness are the theoretical basis for the establishment of the assessment model. Though analyzing the development, the problems and trends of the Beijing high-tech industry, on the competitiveness of China's several cities with a comparative analysis, make a macro grasp of its development. On the basis of globe competitiveness evaluation system of IMD, research methods developed by Michael. E. Port on the industry competitiveness and research done by other scholars, taking the features of high-tech industry into consideration, it brings forward the research model of international competitiveness of high-tech industries, gives the index system and evaluation methods for international competitiveness of high-tech industry, which include six one-level index and 26 two-level index. It evaluates the international competitiveness of high-tech industry of Santa Clara America, Sinchu Taiwan, Bangalore India and Shenzhen China in recent years, and the results are analyzed. Finally, on the basis of the analysis of the results, propose several industry measures and policy to raise the international competitiveness of high-tech industry of Beijing. The evaluation on international competitiveness of high-tech industry not only helps to get a better understanding of international competitiveness situation, but also has realistic meaning in promoting the rapid growth of national economy.
