In August, 1996, the 30th International Geology Congress was held in Beijing, China. In the congress, French Professor, Guy Martini, and Greek Professor, Nickorus Zouros, firstly put forward the concept of"Geopark"in the group congress of the geological heritage conservation. A Geopark is:"a territory with well-defined limits that has a large enough surface area for it to serve local economic development. The Geopark comprises a number of geological-palaeontological heritage sites of special scientific importance, rarity or beauty; it may not be solely of geological-palaeontological significance but also of archaeological, ecological, historical or cultural value". Geoparks under UNESCO's assistance shall: (1) Preserve geological heritage for future generations (conservation); (2)Educate and teach the broad public about issues in geological landscapes and environmental matters (education) and provide research facilities for geosciences; (3)Ensure sustainable development (tourism).Nowadays the development of Geoparks is blooming in China. We have built 138 National Geoparks, including 20 Global Geoparks. China is one of the most active countries on developing Geopark in the world as well. However, the development and management of tourist products, the conservation of geological tourism resources and the operation management of Geoparks in China are falling behind other foreign countries'Geopraks'. In this paper, the author chooses the Guangxi Ziyuan National Geopark as the object of study and analyzes its situation and problems of development. Meanwhile the author analyzes and learns from the successful experiences of other foreign Geoparks'development. Combining with our Geoparks'actual situation, the author puts forward the strategy and suggestions of developing and managing National Geoparks at last.Firstly, the author analyzes and appraises landscape characteristic of the Guangxi Ziyuan National Geopark. It contains geological tourism resources, water landscapes, biology landscapes, humanities landscapes and tourism infrastructure. Using the geosciences theory to explain the Bajiaozhai Danxia landform's origin, the author analyzes its landform characteristic and its scientific research value. Combining with the above various aspects analysis, the author carries on the landscape appraisal to the Guangxi Ziyuan National Geopark. According to Cheng Daopin's research and other experts'appraisal, the Guangxi Ziyuan National Geopark's landscape quality grading rank is 75 points, 3A level.Secondly, the author analyzes the Guangxi Ziyuan National Geopark's market, containing development and competition aspects. In the market development aspect, the author takes the questionnaire survey to 629 tourists in the spot of the Geopark. The investigation content contains tourist's population characteristic, the traveling psychological feature and the traveling behavior characteristic and so on. The investigation results mainly are three: First, most of the tourists are the young people, high-degree education record, the medium income and the nearby residents; Second, the tourists go to travel with various motives, but they are highly satisfied with the Geopark's tourist products; Third, a number of tourists take the Geopark as the secondary tourism destination under Guilin first-level tourism destination. In the market competition aspect, on the one hand, the author analyzes the Geopark and other competitors in the Guilin-Traveling-Circle on the resources characteristic and the market competition situation, using the Boston Matrix, market share-market growth, to carry on the quantitative analysis. On the other hand, the author also compares the Geopark's advantages and disadvantages with other Geoparks', especially with other Danxia landform landscape Geoparks about resources value, market share and so on.The fourth, the author refers to the successful cases from foreign Geoparks'development. Mainly introduce the Yellowstone National Park from the United States, Mount Fuji in Japan and the European Geoparks, their models of development and the reasons for the success. Combining with the characteristics of each model, the author raise some China's Geoparks'developing experience which we can learn from those foreign Geoparks. At last, the author put forward some suggestions and counter-measures of developing the Guangxi Ziyuan National Geopark, including market positioning, tourist products development, market propaganda, tourist services management, environmental protection and sustainable development. The Guangxi Ziyuan National Geopark's developing target is to make one of the most famous Geoparks in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomy Region and a popular Geopark in China. In the product development, the author proposes the strategy of"product-market", in view of the different segmentation markets to design different tourist products to satisfy different segmentation markets'demands. In the market propaganda, we advocate the advertisements propaganda and the places propaganda, construct conformity marketing, have the aid of the news marketing, through strengthening the propaganda to enhance own celebrity. In tourist services management, the author thinks not only we need strengthen talented tourist servers'training, but also must consummate the tourist service facility and the tourism infrastructure construction to meet tourist's need. In the environmental protection, the author proposes to set up the protectorate, carries on the grade protection, and achieves social, economy and environment communal development and the sustainable tourism development finally. The author only takes the Guangxi Ziyuan National Geopark as an example to research the development and management of the National Geoparks. Certainly, the National Geoparks'development just is in the first stage in China. Lots of them do not develop well as we thought. The author cannot finish all the researches and hope that the later scholars can do further research to contribute to China's Geoparks'development.
