| Performance management is the key issue of human resources management. Performance orientation and complete communication are critical subjects in performance management system. Communication and feedback are involved during the period of performance management, human resources management is one of the most important organizational policies, organizational policy is one of controlled variables. Accordingly, performance management will be one of independent variables which have effects on the quality of leader-member exchange. This paper covers a questionnaire investigation among 539 employees in the 15 companies which locate in the area of Suzhou, Wuxi and Changzhou City, based on the relationship between performance management and leader-member exchange which has been studied. The main results are as follows:1. In the company, the process of performance management is incarnated by four key factors: preparation actions, target setting and implementation, collection of performance data, consequence application.2. The 4 factors of leader-member exchange are affect, contribution, loyalty and professional respect.3. The process of performance management has significant relation with leader-member exchange.4. The relation between the process of performance management and leader-member exchange shows different extent on employees who are in different positions, different departments and different types of company.Based on the above findings, the author has given constructive comments on improving performance management and leader-member exchange so as to improve personal and organizational performance. |
