With the development of economy, it is a common practice for a country to undergo urbanization. The explosion of urban population means a lack of parks, green space as well as space and facilities for leisure activities. At the other extreme, industrialization and mechanization reduce citizens' work hours. The implementation of two-day weekends since 1985, and golden weeks to celebrate May day, National day and Spring festival since 1999, and three-day holidays after the readjustment of holiday systems, have been offering citizens more free time. Therefore, citizens have been provided with more chances to travel and relax. However, the coexistence of the demand for high-quality rural tourism and the supply of preliminary tourism product mean the primary consumption of rural tourism and may be the constraining factors of accelerating the integrated development of destination communities. This thesis contains 5 chapters. The first chapter is to introduce the research background, motive and meanings of this thesis. In addition, the framework, main content, research method, research difficulties and innovations are also mentioned. The second chapter is to analyze the characteristics of rural tourism development.
