Research On City Residential Income Gap In Different Industries Of Shaanxi Province

With the development of opening and reform in recent 30 years, a distribution system, in which distribution according to work is dominant and a variety of modes of distribution coexists, has been formed. Shaanxi province, as the center of economy and culture in the western part of China, has made a great progress. But since the mid-1980s, the income gap in different industries is becoming more and more significantly, embarrassing the economic development of Shaanxi, and causing various problems like economic obstruction, class contradiction, administrative friction and employment dispute etc. Therefore, how to shorten the distribution gap by practical measures, has become into an inevitable issue that Shaanxi governments must face and solve in order to promote economic development and social harmonization.Revolving around the subject of city resident income in different industries of Shaanxi province, the thesis analyzes the issues on the income gap in 1985-2006 on the basis of the Modern Economics, the Economics of Development and the Quantitative Economics etc. Researching approaches, including the Comparative Analysis, the Qualitative and Quantitative Analysis, the Dynamic and Static Analysis, are adopted in the thesis as well as the indexes such as the Coefficient of Income Inequality, the Coefficient of Income Variability, the Gini Coefficient and the Income Distribution Index etc. All the data in the thesis are taken from the Statistical Yearbooks of Shaanxi Province(1985-2006).Totally the paper consists of six parts:Part I. Preface. In this part, the author expounds the background, the significance of subject, the related researches in homeland and abroad, the structure and the researching approaches of the research.Part II. Pattern and characteristics. Starting with the fundamental concepts, this part analyzes the pattern and trend of residential income change in different industries of Shaanxi in 1985-2006, in which the characteristic is described as follow: the income gap is becoming outstanding in the respects of monopoly, advancement, type of intensity and marketization.Part III. Performance analysis. This part concentrates on the empirical research on the performance of the residential income gap during 1985-2006, focusing on level performance, structure performance and social performance. By way of lateral and vertical comparison, it gets a conclusion that the residential income gap in different industries is great, even though not uneven, it has a trend of contiuous enlarging.Part IV. Impact and Cause analysis. In this part, the impacts to the economy and society of such gap are firstly concerned about: logical income gap causes positive influence while illogical one makes negative impact. Surface cause, direct cause, fundamental cause and deep cause etc. are all analyzed with details in this part.Part V. Measures to mitigate the income distribution gap expansion. According to the specific condition of Shaanxi province, the author presents measures to mitigate the income distribution gap as the following: implement scientific outlook on development, increase the income level of the low-income industries and the middle-income ones, set up a rational distribution pattern, standardize the regulations on payment and establish a salary mechanism for natural increase, create a fair social environment, emphasize equity and sharing for harmonized development of industry.Part VI.
