With the rapid development and perfection of a market economy in China, the rural 'household contract responsibility' system reveals some drawbacks, for instance, small households cannot obtain the latest marketing information which puts peasants at a disadvantage in the market-place. The effective way to deal with these problems is to coordinate peasants together - through peasants' economic organizations. Only in this way can peasants put themselves in a better position in the market. However the peasants' organizations should first be based on the household contract responsibility system, then combine peasants who run the same kinds of business and share the same information with each other to compete with other groups or companies in the market and ultimately protect their rights. In recent years, the government's focus on "agriculture, rural areas and peasants" has set out many practical policies to help peasants. Moreover, the New Countryside Construction plan and the published Law for Peasants' Economic Organization in the People's Republic of China provides a good opportunity for peasants to develop cooperative organizations. The paper has five parts. The first part is an introduction including background of current society, the target and contents of this research, defining some academic concepts, the methods used in this paper and how the research was conducted, and different innovations in this paper. The second part researches different successful peasant's economic organization in western countries and summaries current research on peasants' organization in China.
