In years past, as the number of blogs increases sharply, blog has become an important tool of network communication and personal publication. Blog, which has many specials, such as individual, immediately, open, easy to make, got extensive application in many professions and fields. Nowadays, many scholars take their daily academic thoughts on their blogs. Then, a lot of academic blogs have emerged, which are getting more and more attention in the academic environment. Because of various reasons, the quality of the academic blog is uneven. Then, the scientific and reasonable evaluation to the academic blog seems to be very important.Starting from the concept of the academic blog, this thesis discusses the application and the meaning of academic blog in the scholars' personal knowledge management, scholarly communication and the construction of academic information resources on Internet. For discovering important blogs to bring convenience to users, the thesis proposes an academic blog evaluation model, which is used to analyze 30 academic blogs practically.This thesis consisted of six chapters.Chapter 1 is the introduction of the thesis. In this part, the author expounds the current situation of the domestic and overseas research in this field and the related research methods. Then author puts forward the research plan and defines the research object. Also in this chapter, the significance of the research is explained carefully.Chapter 2 discusses the basic theories about academic blog. In this chapter, the author has summarized the correlative issues, which include the definition, the kinds and the characters. Through the profound analysis of two famous academic blog, the academic value of the academic blog is confirmed.Chapter 3 elaborates the value and meaning of academic blog in application. Section 1 emphatically explains its function in the scholars' personal knowledge management, which includes the personal knowledge organization and innovation. As a personal knowledge management tool of the scholars, the academic blog can transform the tacit knowledge to explicit knowledge. Section 2 discuses the meaning in the scholarly communication, especially in the informal communication. The communication mechanism of academic blog is mainly built on the comment function, trackback and social network functions. This part also makes a study by comparing invisible college to academic blog, which is the extension of invisible college on Internet. Section 3 points out that academic blog's open content is very convenient for readers to get knowledge. Then, as a new type of open academic information source, academic blog is very important to the construction of academic information resources on Internet.Chapter 4 is the focal and innovate point of this thesis, which elaborates the establishing of academic blog evaluation model. Section 1 elaborates the necessities and meanings of establishing scientific and practical evaluation system of academic blog. Section 2 establishes the evaluation indexes system from content, frame, development and influence. It also introduces the dimensions of the evaluation indexes system and the reference evaluation information is also confirmed. Section 3 establishes the weigh-coefficient by means of questionnaire survey. Section 4 applies evaluation methods with qualitatively and quantitatively combined. After establishes the criterion, the academic blog evaluation model is finally set up.Based on chapter 4, author uses the evaluation model to evaluate 30 academic blogs in chapter 5 and makes a conclusion of evaluation according to the course and result of evaluation. We can see that the academic blogs in the excellent grade are few, the most focus on the good grade and eligible grade.Chapter 6 is the conclusion of this thesis, which includes the gains and the existent deficiency in the course of research. Also, this section points out the direction of this research in future.
