Research On The Development Of CBD In Western Cities Of China

CBD is the abbreviation of Central Business District, translated to the central commercial area, or commercial central area. The conception was advanced by E.W.Burgess when he studied on city spatial structure of Chicago. For many years, the research in the world city focuses on the developed country while Chinese scholars focus on the eastern coastal area, and there are fewer scholars who researched on urban development and CBD in the western region. The city is an artificial ecosystems where population, resources, science and technology, information and so on are highly concentrated. A very important area of urban study is the correlation between the change of spatial structure of CBD and the process of society development. Wth the development of urban economy, urban land use within the CBD has also changed, the size of which is also in a rapid expansion. Since reform and opening, with high freuncy of the exchanging visits between Chinese and foreign scholars, the conception of CBD came into China, and has been paid more attentions on the research of urban planning, architecture, geography, sociology, economics, and other fields because of its compact association with other urban problems.In spite that a lot of studies on the CBD has been reported, comprehensive and systematic researches on the CBD of lanzhou are still in the initial stage. Lanzhou city is located in the centre of the geometry territory, which is one of the northwest Chinese cities with millions of population. CBD building and the development of the city's whole development are particularly important,the research on the actuality and the mechanism of CBD will be able to guide their planning to a more reasonable direction.CBD is a product when urban has developed to a certain stage, which is an indicate of the prosperity of urban commercial and business. The concept of CBD has been advanced by many cities when in the planning process and blindly followed, regardless of the city size and the actual needs of building CBD. Based on the analysis and series of theoretical studies and plans at home and abroad on the basis of practice, we get first-hand data through field survey. The method of the current CBD study is the most influential Vanstone Murphy's CBI to research and calculate the business district of Lanzhou, the Lanzhou CBD-bound, and use a quantitative method to check that Lanzhou CBD has been formed, and its size and scale. Then, we know that Lanzhou has not obtained a certain level of maturity after the conclusion by the CBD theory, and continued to do the firm's business survey in the region of Lanzhou City commercial development stage, and the formation of the CBD conditions. Through further analysis of survey data, we can have the fact and rules of the development of Lanzhou, and its evolution mechanisms, then we advanced the Lanzhou CBD plan.The final part of this paper, we try to describe and analyze the development of the western city of CBD status quo and its mode of development.
